ASHLEY CROCKETT  Poet and Actress
Born amongst a family of writers, Ashley Crockett heard the call of poetry in childhood and was published in a Colorado Springs newspaper at age 12. Relic Press published her first chapbook, Four Fantasies, in “77. Her poems have appeared in The Gazette, Independent, Eleventh Muse, and Kiva:The Journal of the Cheyenne Mountain Heritage Center. Ashley became a performance poet as a member of “Quantum Whims” and has performed in many venues, including area middle and high schools beside Imagination Center poet laureate Stacy Dyson. Ashley is a critically acclaimed actress often seen on local stages. She recently returned to performance poetry, offering her personal experience as a breast cancer survivor in Ten Minutes Max ’08 at Manitou Art Theatre.

Ashley is a Colorado Springs native and has a BA in theatre from DU. Recent roles include Hays in Zorro at Theatrewoks, Gertrude in The Hamletmachine with Chaos Studios, Catherine Petkoff in TheatreWorks’ Arms and the Man, Boo in Last Night of Ballyhoo at the FAC, and Lady Bracknell in The Importance of Being Earnest. She won PAPA Best Actress ’06 for work in Macbeth and Dancing at Lughnasa and previously nominated for Dottie Tass in Walking the Dead and the Nurse in R&J. The Gazette named her Best Actress’03 for Dottie in Noises Off.
