Tracy Miller

My contemporary southwest paintings are based on my love of the West. My Dad exposed me to the great outdoors at a young age instilling in me a love of the land, the animals that inhabit it and the wide open spaces and skies. I grew up riding horses, camping, hiking and fishing and animals in nature are my passion. My subject matter is primarily horses and wildlife done in bold brushstrokes and bright colors. The paintings start as pure abstract expressionism, integrating emotion and movement through color and shape. The animal reveals itself to me in the process of applying paint. I then refine the details that make the animal instantly recognizable, capturing it essence and spirit.
