  literacy-based productions performed by nationally known touring companie
 s. \n\nKicking off the season is 'The Brand New Kid\,' based on the popula
 r children's book by Katie Couric and produced by the Kennedy Center on To
 ur from Washington\, DC. \n\nNew teachers ... new books ... new faces! It'
 s the very first day of second grade and Lazlo S. Gasky is the new kid in 
 school who\, well\, doesn't look or speak quite like the others. This upli
 fting 60-minute musical teaches the important lessons of tolerance\, kindn
 ess and friendship. \n\nIn addition to the performance\, Imagination Celeb
 ration flings open the lobby doors one hour before showtime\, offering chi
 ldren a chance to create their own artwork related to the show at fun\, in
 teractive hands-on art stations.\n\nStart time: Performance at 7pm.\nHands
 -on Art Activities begin at 6pm.
