 -06-28\n\nThe Arabic culture is one of the oldest and richest in the world
 . Its origins go back as far as the time of Abraham the Patriarch. Arabic 
 is spoken in 22 countries ranging from Morocco and Mauritania in the west 
 of Africa to Iraq on the eastern edge of the Arabian Peninsula. Many Arabs
  agree that language is what unites them. This course\, taught by Maha Fos
 ter\, a native speaker from Lebanon\, will explore the diversity of Arab c
 ulture in the Middle East through language\, music\, dance and food. Stude
 nts will have an opportunity to learn some basic Arabic phrases and explor
 e the geography that makes up the many lands of Arab peoples. Students wil
 l learn to make a simple Middle Eastern dish and enjoy a light dinner\, Tu
 rkish coffee and desserts. This course will culminate with festive music a
 nd dance from the Arab world. Foster teaches introductory\, intermediate a
 nd adjunct courses in Arabic language. She has taught Arabic at the U.S. A
 ir Force Academy and holds French and Lebanese degrees. Armstrong 353A.\n
