 f Le Th&eacute\;&aring\;tre du Grand-Guignol is set to make its mark on Co
 lorado Springs. Featuring four hand-chosen plays from the legendary theatr
 e\, Grand Guignol is a violent\, brutally sexual\, and viciously gory look
  into uncontrolled horror and an exploration of theatre's naturalistic ide
 als. \n\nWhat exactly is the Grand Guignol? 'Le Th&eacute\;&aring\;tre du 
 Grand-Guignol was founded in 1894 by Oscar M&eacute\;t&eacute\;nier\, who 
 planned it as a space for naturalist performance\,' director Jonathan Marg
 heim explains. 'The plays were in a variety of styles\, but the most popul
 ar and best-known were the horror plays\, featuring a distinctly bleak wor
 ldview as well as particularly gory special effects in their notoriously b
 loody climaxes. These plays often explored the altered states\, like insan
 ity\, hypnosis\, panic\, under which uncontrolled horror could happen.' Th
 e plays selected for Grand Guignol involve a man horribly disfigured in an
  acid attack who 'invites his ex-lover/attacker in for one last request\,'
  a man haunted by his past crimes by a horrible pain in his finger\, a sex
  farce involving some 'exotic tastes in locations for intimate rendezvous\
 ,' and more. Sex\, violence\, debauchery&ndash\;and lots and lots of blood
 &ndash\;abound in Grand Guignol. \n\nGrand Guignol features Theatre 'd Art
  regulars Erick Groskopf and Ariel Baty as well as a slew of newcomers\, i
 ncluding long-time Theatre 'd Art stage manager 'TK' in her first major ac
 ting role. The show also features music composed by Buzzhead Republic.\n\n
 Grand Guignol will also have Burlesque Nights every Friday! Come early to 
 see Peaks and Pasties perform starting at 7:30 p.m. \n\nTheatre 'd Art was
  voted Colorado Springs' best new theater company in 2008 by the Gazette.
