 n works includes some of the finest artistic expressions created by the tr
 ibal groups that inhabited the Great Plains of North America. The Plains I
 ndians lived in the vast area from the Mississippi River to the Rocky Moun
 tains and from Canada to Mexico. The powerful warrior on horseback wearing
  a feather headdress became the iconic image of all North American Indians
 . A beautiful selection of works including richly decorated clothing\, bea
 ded moccasins\, painted parfleches\, shields\, and cradleboards will be fe
 atured in this exhibition. Many of the works will be shown for the first t
 ime\, and highlight the amazing artistry and technical ability of various 
 Plains tribal groups. While many of the pieces were created for functional
  use\, the individual's creative sensibility and artistic process is manif
