Eliot's dramatic interpretation of the murder of Thomas Becket, will grace the Osborne Studio Theater at UCCS. Written in prose poetry and set in the round for the first time ever in the Osborne, the performance looks at the relationship between church and state and the temptations of faith while presenting a tale of betrayal and intrigue.=0D=0A=What exactly is “Murder in the Cathedral”? “T.S. Eliot, one of the finest poets in the English language, wrote 'Murder in the Cathedral' as he was questioning his own religious faith,” director Greg Reilly explains. “The tale of Becket's rift with King Henry has been a staple of English lore since his murder in 1170, and Eliot's portrayal shows Becket's temptations and flaws in poetic and often clever verse. It has an almost Shakespearean feel to it. [...] This is a challenging play for any actor or director, and I wanted a way to show off the wide range of talent that UCCS has to offer by raising the bar even higher by setting it in the round,” Reilly explains.=0D=0A=“Murder in the Cathedral” features Theatre 'd Art regulars and UCCS Theatre students regulars Sean Verdu, Will Atkinson, Adam Blancas, and Johnathan Margheim. The production also features some relative newcomers, including Jeff Keele, Alisha Pagan, and introducing Zaac Wilson as Thomas Becket.=0D=0A=0D=0AStart time:Doors at 7:30 p.m.=0D=0A=Show begins at 8 p.m.
