DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:Event Name: The Bottesini Project at The Modbo=0D=0AEvent Url: http://www.peakradar.com/event/detail/440987575=0D=0AEvent Date Begin: 2010-11-20=0D=0AEvent Date End: 2010-11-20=0D=0A=0D=0AThe Modbo is excited to have free jazz ensemble The Bottesini Project gracing its stage once more!=0D=0A=Bottesini is notoriously difficult to classify. The guiding principle of the ensemble has always been dedicated to free improvisation. Over the history of the band, a number of remarkable musicians have joined in the collective to make the magic of improvised music happen.=0D=0A=Since 2009, Bottesini has undergone an identity shift. The group is still creating improvised music that sounds like intricately woven and arranged compositions. Yet, the group has shifted from a collective of musicians rotating through the group to a core group of talented musicians who have found remarkable chemistry through a shared improvisatory voice. =0D=0A=The chemistry of Paul Riola, saxophones, Glen Whitehead, trumpet, Serafin Sanchez, tenor saxophone, Glen Taylor, petal steel, Doug Anderson, bass, and Jay Ellis, drums has led to a change in musical direction for the band as well. The music has taken a turn into decidedly jazz-based territory— and audiences often express disbelief that the music is actually improvised. The new Bottesini is beautifully melodic and surprisingly accessible to a mainstream audience.=0D=0A=0D=0AStart time:8 p.m.
