SUMMARY:Hot Summer Nights - Music on the Labyrinth: Joe Uveges
DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:Event Name: Hot Summer Nights - Music on the Labyrinth: Joe Uveges=0D=0AEvent Url: http://www.peakradar.com/event/detail/441616559=0D=0AEvent Date Begin: 2012-07-07=0D=0AEvent Date End: 2012-07-07=0D=0A=0D=0AFCC is presenting another program in its “Hot Summer Nights – Music on the Labyrinth” series. The featured artist is acoustic musician Joe Uveges, singer and guitarist. Joe performs everything from driving rock to country ballads, percussive funk and adult contemporary with a spiritual twist. The program will be held outdoors on the labyrinth on the south side of the church, so bring a blanket or chairs. (The program will be moved indoors for inclement weather.) A free will offering will be taken.=0D=0A==0D=0A==0D=0A==0D=0A=Joe Uveges has meandered the path of quiet musical anonymity on Colorado's front range for more than 18 years. Raised a farm kid in Schoharie New York, pummeled by liberal academics at Union College and Catholic University, a grizzled veteran of bar bands and coffeehouses, he should be a burned out skeleton of a man playing Allman Brother covers, tipping lukewarm Coors from a can, and lamenting broken marriages and illegitimate kids. Instead, 16 years into a delightful marriage and parenting all of his children (with varying degrees of success) he has been touring the country promoting his last 6 CDs: 'One Down, Own Across' (2002), 'Promise of Portage' (2004), 'Up Please' (2005), which was a collaboration with Jim Sokol and Phil Volan, 'When Freedom Calls (2007), 'Joe Uveges: Just for Grins' (2007), and 'Driving' (2008) with Susan Rissman and JK Braithwaite. Both 'One Down' and 'Portage' were awarded 'Best of' awards in their respective years in Southern Colorado. 'Up Please', meanwhile, is a CD that fans of Volan, Uveges & Sokol have waited 15 years for and the harmonies are relentless and evocative.=0D=0A==0D=0A==0D=0A=Joe does children's shows in affiliation with an organization called Earthseeds, a non-profit dedicated to spreading visual images of the earth to people worldwide. The children's program promotes the unique notion that we are all in a sense 'astronauts' on this small, beautiful, planet winding through space at 66,000 miles an hour. Joe currently resides in Colorado Springs with his wife Kristen and his two children, Katie (14) and Andrew (6). They live in a small older home which suffers from the quality of neglect that only a musician can seem to manifest in real life. Laughter is a priority and parenting is the daily reality. www.joeuveges.com=0D=0A=0D=0AStart time:6:30 p.m.
