Here's a little about how the story came to me, and why I need this funding:

 

 

 

The concept of my story came to me while touring Cecil Court, in London. I was staying abroad on Tottenham Court Road, studying and touring the roots of British Literature and the theatre scene, as well as taking workshops with the Royal Shakespeare Company. My time in the UK was simply amazing. So amazing, it inspired the creation of my character. But I wanted her to be amazing, too. It wouldn't do to have her lack the spark of the very city that spawned her creation.

 

 

 

The challenge was to write a believable character in a dark, fantastic world. It was then that sassy teenager Tessa Marie Conley strode up to me, hand extended for a firm handshake, and introduced herself as my new best friend.

 

 

 

I do love Tessa. She has spunk, steel, and tenacity she has no idea she owns. Why do we hurt the ones we love? Tessa bounces back from everything I throw at her, growing in character, and losing the naivety that accompanied her to the UK from Austin, TX. I admire these things about her. And she doesn't know it yet, but she thrives on overcoming the obstacles Fate throws her way.

 

 

 

The first book in the series is set in London majorly. A little bit of the story happens in Kelty, Scotland. Building Tessa's world in London was fairly easy because I was physically there, feeling, eating, sleeping, smelling, talking to shopkeepers and getting an overall idea of life there. That's where the project with Kickstarter comes in. The funding I seek is for research purposes, including time in Kelty touring the library there along with scouting the location of a castle I'm creating at Loch Ore, in "Phantom Limb Itch." Part is for normal publishing costs and editing, as well a promoting the work. Every little bit helps to make the project a success. Thank you!
