Date Posted: 08/04/08
Organization: Pikes Peak Community Foundation
City: Colorado SpringsDescription:
Imagine giving a gift that impacted your entire community for years or even decades. Think you?re not wealthy enough to make that much of a difference? Think again. Earlier this year the Pikes Peak Community Foundation was named the sole beneficiary of the Carl and Edith Ellyas estate. Because of their great love of the arts, Pikes Peak Community Foundation was selected to manage the estate in a way that would support art and artists in our community for generations. Proceeds from the estate are expected to generate close to $500,000 and that money will be used in perpetuity to benefit local artists. You too can contribute to the arts by participating in the Ellyas Estate Sale on Friday, August 8th from 7:30 to 2:00 p.m. and Saturday, August 9th from 7:30 to noon at 612 East LaSalle just north of the Bon Shopping Center. Items for sale include Art Deco Furniture, Paintings, Vintage Clothing, Lamps, Power Tools, an Antique German "Kuba" Stereo, Electronics, Dark Room Equipment, Figurines, Jewelry, and much, much more. Everything must go and 100% of the proceeds will go to the Fund for the Arts at Pikes Peak Community Foundation. This thoughtful gift from Carl and Edith Ellyas is a testament to the fact that everyday people are truly capable of remarkable things!
