Add Review/CommentCMZ will again celebrate the cultural heritage of the Hispanic community during the second annual Fiesta Latina celebration on Saturday, Aug. 11. Sponsored by The Gazette, Ent and Comcast, this special event is highlighted by a variety of musical entertainment and dancing demonstrations from area Latino entertainers and community groups. Entertainment will include many popular regional dance groups, along with musical diversions. Piñata activities for the kids will also be featured during the celebration, including an area where kids can help make piñatas for Zoo animals (the piñatas are stuffed with animal treats). The Zoo’s collection of animals from south of the border, such as the rare mountain tapir and chestnut mandible toucan, will be showcased during Fiesta Latina, and Cheyenne Mountain Zoo docents and interpreters will be on hand to provide information and answer questions.
