Imagination Celebration of Colorado Springs invites families to get swept off their feet into a world of learning, literacy and laughter during its seventh spectacular season of Family Theater at the Pikes Peak Center. This year's season once again offers an affordable opportunity to enjoy delightfully entertaining, literacy-based productions performed by nationally known touring companies. Kicking off the season is "The Brand New Kid," based on the popular children's book by Katie Couric and produced by the Kennedy Center on Tour from Washington, DC. New teachers ... new books ... new faces! It's the very first day of second grade and Lazlo S. Gasky is the new kid in school who, well, doesn't look or speak quite like the others. This uplifting 60-minute musical teaches the important lessons of tolerance, kindness and friendship. In addition to the performance, Imagination Celebration flings open the lobby doors one hour before showtime, offering children a chance to create their own artwork related to the show at fun, interactive hands-on art stations.
