What is chiseled, stitched, dyed, and sanded, turned, embroidered, appliqued, and painted? It's the 22nd Annual Quilts and Fine Woodworking Exhibition at the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum. From September 1 through October 27, the finest in contemporary regional woodworking and quilting will be on display in this popular exhibit. Co-sponsored by the Colorado Quilting Council and the Friends of the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum, this annual exhibition features woodwork and quilts of both abstract and traditional designs. This annual exhibition is all about color, texture, and design, and it is a favorite of the residents of the Pikes Peak Region, says Matt Mayberry, Director of the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum. Dozens of one-of-a-kind quilts and original creations in wood fill the gallery making it awash with color and energy. Museum visitors are encouraged to vote for their favorite piece. Independent professional judges review all woodworking and quilt entries for acceptance into the show. This helps to maintain the overall quality and beauty from year to year. The Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum is free and open Tuesday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
