If you haven't been to Heebee Jeebee's gallery, then you've missed a lot of great photography and art. And now's your chance to catch up with an exhibition of unforgettable printmaking and photography by Emily Eakes (Lawrence, KS) and Matthew Yates (Tucson, AZ). Although Heebee Jeebees strives to promote local artists, they believe this outstanding work screams to be seen by Colorado Springs. With a repetition by threes, “33 1/3 Resolutions Per Minute” the hand carved and printed linoleum blocks by Emily Eakes reference her world with a commonality of subjects that make the benign iconic. Eakes creates a large work containing of 71 intimate prints. Matther Yates’ series “Beautiful Nightmare” consisits of one-of-a-kind tea toned fiber photographic prints. “Beautiful Nightmare” is the dark family album that Yates desires to find hidden in the basement, the dusty archive of mysterious people, the record of events long forgotten – perhaps intentionally. These tableaux are inspired by his waking and dreaming life, his fantasies and fears, the things Yates has seen out of the corner of his eye, the déjà-vues he has felt, and the stories he allowed himself to play out.
