Your applause could be as famous as the nationally syndicated radio program E-town comes to Colorado Springs, partnering with KRCC, to present a radio show taping featuring the ultimate singer songwriter Loudon Wainwright III and legendary soul singer Bettye LaVette. Wainwright, who was a participant in the 1967 Haight-Ashbury Summer of Love, has twice been nominated for a Grammy award. His latest recorded work (his 22nd album) is "Strange Weirdos: Music From and Inspired by Knocked Up" and is closely associated with the hit movie from Judd Apatow. LaVette, one of the greatest soul singers in American music history, has a career that dates back to 1962 and a teenage R&B hit called "My Man (He's A Loving Man)." She grew up in Detroit with many peers and friends who went on to become superstars at Motown and Atlantic. She has stories of David Ruffin sleeping on the floor of her mama's house and young Supremes still learning their craft. For tickets go to www.ticketweb.com/t3/event/EventListings?orgId=15845. KRCC members can get discount tickets ($15) by phone 473-4801 or 800-748-2727, or at the station, 912 N. Weber St. Sponsored by KRCC-FM, Colorado College and the Colorado Springs Independent.
