While we don't have a Japan Town here in Colorado Springs, we now have The Japanese Cultural Festival and Bazaar, which will be held on November 10th, Saturday, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Business of Arts Center in Manitou Springs. The Japanese cultural festival will feature Japanese dances, a kimono fashion show, koto music, and taiko drum performances. The bazaar will offer all sorts of Japanese wares and gift items brought especially from Japan for this event. Vendors will sell a variety of Japanese foods as well as washi paper crafts, kimono, haori, bonsai trees, and pottery. It will be a fun event offering entertainment, great Japanese food, and wonderful shopping for yourself or the upcoming gift-giving season. The event is sponsored by the Japan-America Society of Southern Colorado (JASSC), a non-profit, tax exempt, educational and cultural organization promoting increased awareness, education, and understanding between the citizens of Southern Colorado and Japan. JASSC provides opportunities for education and social enrichment through a variety of programs, classes, and cultural events. For more information, please visit us on the web at www.jassc.org or contact Kayoko Jennings at kayokoj@adelphia.net or 266-9564.
