Aficionados Luncheon and Lecture and PowerPoint Presentation features Ronda Brulotte as she examines the state and tourist narratives that promote the Mexican state of Oaxaca as a site of authentic pre-Hispanic and contemporary culture. She will show the contradictions of these narratives through the lens of a single community with a history of involvement in two different craft traditions. Brulotte teaches at the University of New Mexico and was the 2005-06 Hulbert Center Program specialist. Reservations due by Monday, Nov. 5; call 389-6649. Sponsored by the Hulbert Center for Southwest Studies.
