Add Review/CommentGateways—Colorado Vocal Arts Ensemble's High School Choral Residency program—is designed to mentor young singers in the art of choral singing. This year, CVAE has been privileged to work two exceptional ensembles: Coronado High School's Shomber Choir, Jeff Hodur director, and Mitchell High School's Madrigal Singers, Todd DiCamillo, director. This concert is the culmination of a 4-week residency in the participating schools, during which members of CVAE work closely with student ensembles on selected repertoire. The concert features works in a wide range of choral styles, and is designed to allow each group to perform separately, as well in combination with CVAE. The final selection, a rousing setting of the African-American spiritual Sings of the Judgment, brings all 80 voices together for a powerful finish.
