December 7, 2007
Add Review/CommentAn Amsterdam-based collective of improvisation artists (dancers, musicians, a visual artist, a lighting designer, and video artists) along with music faculty from UCCS will present The 6th Room at the Gallery of Contemporary Art. The performance will consist of dance, light, and music with some performers positioned simultaneously in separate geographical locations on the planet - Berlin, New York, Tokyo and Amsterdam. Their actions will be streamed through the Internet for projection on the Gallery walls. Participants from Amsterdam will include Mary Oliver (Violin / Viola), Michael Schumacher (dance), Ellen Knops (lighting design). From Colorado Springs, Glen Whitehead (trumpet), and Randy Bowen (drums & percussion) will accompany the performance. This event has been organized by Glen Whitehead (Assistant Professor of Music, Director of Music Program at UCCS) and the UCCS Music Program. Funding has been provided by the President's Fund for the Humanities Grant from the University of Colorado.
