You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometime, you just might find you get what you need. And for MATCHBOX TWENTY, one of the most successful bands to emerge in the past decade, what they thought they wanted heading into 2007 turned out to be very different from what both they and their fans really needed… and are now happily getting via the band's new collection, "EXILE ON MAINSTREAM." Nearly five years had elapsed since their last studio album, and in the interim, singer Rob Thomas had launched a chart-topping solo career. So, despite some 28 million records sold across three multi-platinum albums, a remarkable string of hit singles, fans demanded for the band’s return to active duty Special guest: Alanis Morrisette Alanis Morissette, Grammy-winning singer-songwriter, producer, musician, and actress, will be inducted into the Canadian Music Industry Hall of Fame Friday, March 7th. She will be awarded with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Canadian Radio Music Awards, taking place at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel during the 26th Annual Rogers MusicStore Canadian Music Week. From the massive worldwide success of her Grammy-winning 1995 debut for Maverick Records, Jagged Little Pill - which remains one of the most popular recordings in music history with over 30 million in sales worldwide - through her eclectic and highly praised subsequent albums, Morissette has become one of Canada’s most recognized and internationally acclaimed singer-songwriters. A seven-time Grammy Award winner and 12-time JUNO Award winner, the Ottawa native is also a recipient of two Golden Globe nominations, the most recent for “Best Original Song-Motion Picture” for “Wunderkind”, the theme song for the box office hit “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe”. Her groundbreaking debut, Jagged Little Pill, spawned the hits “You Oughta Know”, “Hand In My Pocket”, “Ironic”, and “You Learn”, followed by the chart-topping albums Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie (1998), with the hits “Thank U”, “Unsent”, and “So Pure”, MTV Unplugged (1999) which included the release of “That I Would Be Good”, Under Rug Swept (2002) which featured the hits “Hands Clean” and “Precious Illusions”, and So-Called Chaos (2004) which brought forward “Eight Easy Steps” and “Everything”. To commemorate the 10 year anniversary of Jagged Little Pill, Morissette released a studio acoustic version in 2005 entitled, Jagged Little Pill Acoustic. Her most recent release, The Collection CD and DVD (2005), includes select favourites as well as her newest single, “Crazy”, which reached #9 on the Billboard charts. In addition to her musical accomplishments, Morissette has appeared on-screen in the Kevin Smith film "Dogma" (1998), HBO’s "Sex In The City" (1999), “Curb Your Enthusiasm” (2002), “The Exonerated” (2003), and off-Broadway in "The Vagina Monologues". In 2004, Morissette expanded her own acting credentials with the release of the Cole Porter biographical film “De-Lovely”, in which she performed the song “Let’s Do It, Let’s Fall in Love” and had a brief acting role as an anonymous stage performer. In December 2001, she was honored by The Friends of The United Nations with a Global Tolerance Award for her outstanding contributions to promoting tolerance through the arts.
