In a first for the region, students from two area performing arts schools - the Colorado Springs Conservatory, the Ballet Society of Colorado Springs’ Colorado’s Classical Youth Ballet - have collaborated to create an evening of original dance and music. Fourteen numbers feature 16 choreographers, eight composers and the conservatory’s jazz ensemble. Students created all the choreography and most of the music, with the rest of the music consisting of jazz numbers such as Eddie Harris’ “Cold Duck Time.” The Colorado Springs Conservatory is an arts preparatory school that provides instruction in classical music, musical theater, theater, and visual art to students ages 3 to 19. Colorado's Classical Youth Ballet is a troupe of approximately 40 pre-professional ballet dancers and a part of the Ballet Society of Colorado Springs.
