With recent collapses in the U.S. housing market, millions of low-income families are being forced out their homes. When households spend more than 30% of their income on housing costs, they are far less likely to invest in healthcare and education, or save for the future. This workshop discusses the housing needs of Colorado Springs' low-income families. During the workshop, CC students and Colorado Springs citizens will tour several Colorado Springs affordable housing developments and discuss affordability along the Front Range, and learn about potential internship, volunteer, and employment opportunities assisting low-income families in Colorado Springs. Among the participants will be representatives from The City of Colorado Springs' Office of Housing & Community Development; Habitat for Humanity; and Partners in Housing. This workshop led by student researcher Wylie Rogers, as part of the annual State of the Rockies conference.
