Add Review/CommentWhen some people view an historic coverlet, instead of seeing a bedspread they see a snowflake-like piece of art. Textile scholar and weaver Judi Arndt will take us Beyond Bedspreads during an informal gallery talk in the newest exhibit at the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum. The show features 25 exceptional historic coverlets from the Museum’s collection side by side with creations woven expressly for the exhibition by members of the Pikes Peak Weavers Guild. Exquisite shawls, table coverings and other creative pieces were inspired by the textures, colors, and patterns of these historic textiles. Arndt, who has studied textiles throughout the world, will discuss materials, methods, and patterns of both the historic and contemporary weavings on exhibit. This program will appeal to weavers and non-weavers alike.
