*SOLD OUT* Featuring music, comedy and monologue, Sandra Bernhard’s one-woman show provides a witty and thought-provoking answer to the question “Is the Media at War with the Arts”? One of the most innovative artists working today, this accomplished comedienne, writer, actress, and singer breaks down perceived boundaries between entertainment, social commentary, and performance art. Defying neat categorization, she is irreverent, intellectual, bawdy, and above all, wildly entertaining. With laser-sharp insight, Bernhard addresses issues ranging from the war in Iraq to the endless media coverage of Anna Nicole Smith’s death. Through music, storytelling and commentary, Bernhard questions how we determine what is authentic within a media-saturated world. An Evening with Sandra Bernhard will be the keynote event of Cornerstone Arts Week, an annual event that examines a social, political, philosophical or aesthetic question through a variety of media, including visual arts exhibitions, theatrical performances, literary readings, films and lectures. Emphasizing interdisciplinary collaborations, impassioned dialogue and the free exchange of ideas, Cornerstone Arts Week makes Colorado College’s rich liberal arts experience available to the general public. Sponsored by the Robert & Ruby Priddy Charitable Trust and the Gay & Lesbian Fund for Colorado. Colorado College partners are the NEH Professorship, drama/dance department, Cultural Attractions Fund, Office of the Dean, Feminist & Gender Studies and the art department.
