"A quilt will warm your body and comfort your soul." This anonymous quote expresses a sentiment shared by many. A quilt passed down from generation to generation is a treasured heirloom, and links the present with the past. As many modern-day quilting enthusiasts already know, the beauty of a quilt transcends its functionality; its colors, design and style reveal the heart of an artist. To coincide with the popular Annual Quilt and Fine Woodworking exhibition at the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum, a lecture by local quilt collector, author, certified quilt appraiser and previous antique quilt dealer, Bobbie Aug will be presented on Saturday, September 20, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. As an antique quilt collector and full-time quilt scholar, Ms. Aug brings a wealth of information about two centuries of quiltmaking through her personal collection of quilts. She is a nationally known teacher and lecturer, traveling to quilt shows and festivals throughout the United States. She has co-authored eight books on quilting, appeared on quilting demonstration television shows and written articles featuring her quilts in numerous national quilting magazines. Ms. Aug holds memberships and leadership positions in many national quilting associations and guilds. This program is free and open to the public but reservations are encouraged. Call 385-5990 to reserve a seat.
