As a complement to its current gallery exhibition entitled Shelter, Smokebrush Gallery & Foundation for the Arts will host a public forum, consisting of a moderated panel discussion, to delve into issues specific to homelessness and measures being taken to address it in the Colorado Springs community.

The Smokebrush Gallery is partnering with five Colorado Springs non-profit organizations that provide assistance to the area's homeless and working poor, including Catholic Charities-Marian House, Ecumenical Social Ministries, Interfaith Hospitality Network, Peak Vista - Community Health Center, and Springs Rescue Mission. Through these partnerships, the Smokebrush Gallery and these organizations seek to enhance understanding of the show's theme through interaction with exhibit patrons and additional activities, such as this public forum.

The panelists include: Jerry Heimlicher, Colorado Springs City Councilmember District 3; Greg Morris, Director, Peak Vista Community Health Center; Robert Holmes, Executive Director, Homeward Pikes Peak; Caroline McDole, Executive Director, Ecumenical Social Ministries.

The exhibition Shelter: An Artistic Exploration of Homelessness opened June 6 and continues through June 25 and is sponsored in part by a grant from the Colorado Council on the Arts.
