Add Review/CommentEver wonder what to do with all the veggies you just harvested or bought? Maybe you've wanted to try a new item and didn't know how to prepare it. Led by Michele Mukatis in the wonderful venue of Venetucci Farm's outdoor kitchen, each class gives instruction on how to make easy meals from farm-fresh produce. You get the best flavor experience and maximum nutritional benefits by using vegetables recently harvested rather than being shipped across country.
Classes take place once a month, July through October, on the following dates: Thursdays, 5:30pm: July 17, August 21, September 18, and October 9 Saturdays, 10:30am: July 19, August 23, September 20, and October 11
Each session will last approximately three hours, depending on the difficulty of what we choose to make. Classes take place rain or shine, at Venetucci's outdoor covered kitchen. Some of the meals we might make include (depending on what's ripe that day): Beet and Goat Cheese Quesadillas with Tomatillo Salsa, Pizzas on the Grill, Roasted Tomato Vinaigrette Pasta Salad; Butternut Squash Risotto, and Yukon Gold Potato-Celeriac Gratin.
$200 for the series. Names will be taken and singles included at $55 per class on a space-available basis. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Venetucci educational programs. Each class includes the meal plus instruction on cooking techniques and how to use what you have; how to choose your vegetables, whether at the farm stand or in the market; and recipes as well as thoughts on the nutritional and health benefits of cooking fresh foods.
Michele Mukatis is a Certified Holistic Health Counselor through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in New York City.
