Early in Cheyenne Mountain's History, the Ute and other Native Americans camped and traveled through the region during seasonal hunting treks. The Homestead Act of 1862 enticed farmers and ranchers to migrate westward. They settled the foothills and adjacent plains in hopes of raising families and making a living from the land. This narrated slideshow will introduce these hardy souls and guide you through the property's transition from wild countryside to ranch property to, eventually, a stunning state park.
