The First Christian Church Concert Series is presenting Amuse, an early instrument ensemble. Their program, "Glories of God and Amour: Songs for Husbands, Wives, Lovers, and Nuns," will feature a selection of songs, dances, and fantasias ranging from the 12th century to the opening of the 18th century. The music will be performed by recorders, crumhorns, dulcian, rackett, percussion, voice, harpsichord and organ. Come and enjoy the unique sounds of these ancient instruments. Performers on this program are Nancy Ekberg, Susan Virga, and Ria van der Heijde-Zomerdijk, recorders, Emily Chan on recorders and crumhorns, guest William Adams on recorders, rackett and dulcian, guest vocalist Janet Johnson, and Carol Wilson on harpsichord and organ. Highlights will include instrumental and vocal music by Philip Wilder, fantasias by William Byrd, dances of Samuel Scheidt, and a rousing medieval medley with chant. A free will offering will be taken.
