Smokebrush Gallery presents a gallery talk with expressionistic painter Lance Green. Mr. Green will talk about his career and his current artistic direction, including his exhibition Muses, Ladders & Storms at Sea, on display at the Smokebrush Gallery through September 24.
Green's observations of the everyday world seem somewhat familiar but are transformed by his color-saturated, expressive style where they become portals to a transcendent reality. Although his is a distinctive style, Lance cites some of his influences as 1950's Bay Area artists including Deibenkorn and Oliviera, along with many of the 20th century Latin Masters. Lance was honored to study extensively on an individual basis with Fritz Scholder in the 1990's.
