    "No Bikini"
Directed by Claudia Morgado Escanilla (Canada, 2007, 9 min.)
A seven-year-old finds unexpected freedom during summer swimming lessons. Winner of the Audience Award, SFILGBTFF for Best Short, 2008.

    Ruby Blue
Directed by Jan Dunn (UK, 2007, 108 min.)
A depressed English widower, Bob Hoskins, and a transgender, transplanted Frenchwoman, Josiane Blasko (who plays the butch dyke in French Twist) deliver command performances in this story of friendship, ostracism and acceptance. Wounded but wise, their friendship becomes the catalyst for personal and communal awakening in this working-class neighborhood of a picturesque, conservative, seaside town. Ruby Blue is an uplifting parable of freedom and the possibility of reinventing oneself at any age.

The Pikes Peak Lavender Film Festival is the only completely LGBT film festival in Colorado, and has been held in Colorado Springs since 1999. The festival programmers select from the best short films and features screened at the annual San Francisco International LGBT Film Festival. The Lavender Film Festival is held over a three-day period, opens on a Friday evening with a reception before the screening of that night’s short and feature. The remaining film programs are presented on Saturday and Sunday, being followed by after-parties at the Underground Bars on North Nevada Avenue.
