Add Review/CommentThe prints of Keiji Shinohara, a Japanese woodcut printmaker currently living and working in the United States, will be on display in Colorado College's Coburn Gallery. Shinohara is a printmaker representing the tradition of Japanese printmaking as well as the future direction of the medium in a country which also blends the modern and ancient. Shinohara combines a traditional apprenticeship training in Japanese woodcut printing techniques (he is a certified Master Printer) with a contemporary approach to imagery and experimental processes. This union of technical mastery and contemporary explorations into color, layers, and texture result in truly unique, shimmeringly beautiful prints. Also on display will be a selection of 18th century Edo-period Japanese woodblock prints and copies of 15th century illustrated scrolls, from the personal collections of Colorado College faculty.
