Atomic Elroy's HOMETOWN will debunk both the myth and madness involving the artist's 40-year dysfunctional relationship with his residence and artistic career in Colorado Springs. Creating the mythical and metaphorical city HOMETOWN within the galleries at the Fine Arts Center Modern, Elroy will use video and installation and performance art to convey the complicated existence of an “Avant Garde” artist in an “All-American” town. Highlights will include installation of the actual "red spring" Colorado Springs is named after, faux travelogues of various and sundry local tourist sites, numerous parodies of the local “usual suspects” in art, politics and religion, and, of course, a series of videos of artists’ own take on the “City of the Red Bubbling Water.”
