Carnivale in Manitou Springs

More laid back than New Orleans, more casual than Venice and more clothed than Rio, Mardi Gras in Manitou Springs is like the town itself: eclectic, eccentric and ... different. A foot parade with giant puppets, a corps of Djembe drummers and a snowstorm-or-shine attitude, "Carnivale" is truly Manitou's own.

The 17th Annual Carnivale celebration kicks off with the Mumbo Jumbo Gumbo Cookoff at 11 a.m. at Soda Springs Park.

The Carnivale Parade takes place in downtown Manitou following the cook-off. This year's theme is "Indulge Your Appetites." Revelers are invited to come early and enjoy specials in the downtown restaurants as well as live music after the parade.
