Come join exhilarating Afro-Latin dance band Orquesta Sabroso in this special concert event which will be an opportunity to both hear and learn about the cultural and musical evolution of Afro-Latin sounds, rooted in the polyrhythmic traditions of the Caribbean islands where African and Spanish cultures converged.
Formed in 1997 by veteran musicians Dennis Bueno and Buddy Gordon, Orquesta Sabroso is composed of some of Colorado’s most talented and musically diverse musicians. The performance will feature five percussionists, four horn players, piano, bass, and vocal.
Dennis Bueno attended the prestigious Berklee College of Music and served in the Air Force as a percussionist in the Norad and Air Force Academy Bands. He has performed with numerous national and local musicians. Dennis is on the faculty of the Colorado Springs Conservatory and directs Drums for Harmony, a community drum circle based at the Conservatory.
Buddy Gordon grew up in Los Angeles where, after touring with Ray Charles, he became part of L.A.’s vibrant salsa scene, playing with some of the area’s finest bands.
