The Pikes Peak Jazz and Swing Society presents their annual scholarship fundraiser with musical entertainment provided by the Cheyenne Mtn. High School Jazz Band directed by Jack Yonce, and the Springs Contemporary Jazz Big Band, an 18-piece professional-level big band offering a selection of creative and entertaining arrangements in a contemporary big band format.
Each year the society reviews submissions and auditions high school musicians to find the winner of their 1st place $1000 Danny Stevenson Memorial Scholarship. The Springs Contemporary Jazz Big Band also awards a $1000 Bug Barbee Scholarship, bringing the total to $2,000. A second place award of $1,000 is also given. There will also be dancing, door prizes, a cash bar plus a cold and hot buffet and dessert bar available for purchase.
