Add Review/CommentThe legend of Emma Crawford will live again on Saturday, October 25, 2008 when as many as 40 coffins and “Emmas” race up the town’s main street, in the shadow of Pikes Peak. Each coffin is pulled by a team of 4 mourners and each will also have an “Emma” riding in it. Trophies are awarded to the 1st place fastest coffin racers and also to the most creative coffin and the best “Emma”. Plaques are awarded for Best Entourage and 2nd and 3rd place racers. The Parade of the Coffins and the Race take place on Manitou Avenue in the town’s National Historic District beginning with the Parade of Hearses led by the Denver Hearse Association. The Parade of the Coffins starts at 12:00 PM and the coffin races begin immediately following at approximately 12:30 PM.
