    The First Christian Church Concert Series is presenting Deke Polifka, organist and choirmaster at Grace and St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, in concert. Mr. Polifka will perform organ works by J.S. Bach, Flor Peeters, Leo Sowerby, Ralph Vaughan Williams, John Stanley, Csar Franck, Charles Marie Widor, Herbert Howells. A free will offering will be taken, and all are invited to a reception following the concert. Deke Polifka is the organist and choirmaster at Grace and St. Stephen's Episcopal Church. He holds Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in piano performance from The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. Deke has also earned the Colleague certificate of the American Guild of Organists. While an undergraduate student, he won the Brevard Music Center Concerto Competition and was a prizewinner in the MTNA Regional Collegiate Artist Competition. His extensive training in church music includes graduate/post-graduate study in choral conducting with Leo Nestor and organ with Edward Moore, Gordon Stewart and Joyce Kull. Prior to moving to Colorado in 2006, he served as Organist/Choirmaster at Holy Cross Catholic Parish (Bethesda, Md.), Assistant Director of Music at Westminster Presbyterian Church (Alexandria, Va.) principal accompanist for the Thomas Circle Singers and Catholic University Choruses and assisting organist at the Basilica of the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. Deke resides in Colorado Springs with his wife, Joyce, and their daughter, Elle.
