Sam is enrolled in the guitar program at Colorado State University-Pueblo, where he studies with Benjamin Cantu. He has taken master classes with Manuel Barrueco, Martha Masters, Denis Azabagic, Ricardo Iznaola, and Maso Ito. Sam has attended the Bowdoin International Music Festival in Maine and the Hawaii Guitar Class in the summer of 2008. He teaches guitar at Rhythm Street in Pueblo.
