IN THE WIND: Wind Sculpture Workshop with Steve Wood
June 20, 2009
Add Review/Comment
This one-day workshop will provide a fun opportunity for participants to work with a variety of materials and create a kinetic, sculptural, wind artwork in a spectacularly inspiring setting.
Public art facilitator and artist Steve Wood will guide participants through the process of finding interesting materials, making quick sketch ideas, and creating a work of art that moves with the wind. Participants will have the option of working with metal, wood, found objects, natural materials, and fabric. Gain a greater understanding of wind energy while working with a variety of construction processes. Participants will finish the day with a unique creation to take home or add to the collection of wind sculptures at a spectacular mountain property just minutes west of Colorado Springs. Pre-registration is required. Participants should bring a sack lunch and be prepared to work outside at altitude.
Smokebrush's B.I.G. Idea Workshop program is brilliant, innovative, & gutsy: adjectives that serve as the cornerstone for this leading-edge environmental art workshop program. Aimed primarily at adults and teens, the program unites art and eco-technology through the strategic production of exhibitions in our gallery, coupled with unique workshops engaging artists and non-artists alike. Some workshops delve into innovative approaches to artistic processes while integrating knowledge about the sustainable acquisition, use and disposal of art materials; others introduce principles of eco-technology using art. This summer alone you can learn Color Theory, Encaustic (Beeswax) Painting, Kinetic Wind Sculpture with Found Materials, Assemblage Art and more!
