THE RAVEN: The Poem and an Artist's Paintings

Add Review/CommentA series of paintings by Sandy Applegate, based on Edgar Allan Poe's famous poem, April 9 to June 3, 2008. A reception with the artist is scheduled for Friday, April 18, 5-8 pm as part of the BAC's Campus-wide Art Release Event. Sandy has placed raven images in atmospheres suggested by phrases from Poe's poem. These are not illustrations, but paintings that evoke the many word-pictures from this great poem. There are brief moments of levity within the poem, and her corresponding images reflect this lighter mood. Other images reflect the darker, more tragic elements of The Raven?.
