Andy Eppler is Americana to the core. In his work he explores themes such as disenchantment, religiosity and the American way. His world-view is dystopian yet hopeful as he writes about the world around him. Andy, a product of West Texan grit and wisdom, has dedicated himself to making meaningful art. His first record "There is No Underground" (2007) was a shotgun style record hitting many genres and topics with ferocity. The second record was the spoken word project "Dark Places" in which Andy read selections of his poetry and short stories.. The third record was the breakthrough. "Disease in the Heartland" was his West Texas styled biography that gave him international interest from Magazines, News Papers and Radio. Even more attention was gained when people found out about Eppler's approach to making an album. He plays all the instruments, writes all the material, produces and masters his own records and designs the cover art. His records are a great example of art directly from the artist and free from the filters of others. "Andy Eppler's new recording called "Disease in the Heartland," a CD that, upon the first of many listenings, immediately forced me to sit up and pay better attention. The tunes are raw, yet equally sensitive and hurting. They work as an invitation to explore both brain and heart. The cure for Eppler's "Disease in the Heartland" may be the public's response to his words. This CD is a ferocious, challenging, individual step by a solo artist unwilling to play in a place where people won't listen. He recorded it alone in his room - and these songs may be best experienced the same way, with no distractions."
