Canvas Cafe Grand Opening Party
August 21, 2009
Add Review/Comment
Manitou Springs' Business of Art Center is opening the new Canvas Café with a stimulating artistic flare. The "canvas" name originated from the view of the Venue as a "blank canvas" for the community. Canvas Café proudly serves specialty coffee drinks, locally brewed beers and international wines. The "Café" name was born with the addition of a light fare menu. Light fare includes a selection of homemade quiche, soups, Panini's, and pastry selections by café manager Tim Anderson. The fresh look of the café was inspired by BAC Event Coordinator, Melissa Lafontaine; Gallery Curator, Elizabeth Szabo; and mural artist Alexis Elza.
The artistic look is composed of tables crafted by local artists, comfy lounge, new area paint, ceramic mugs for sale, art magazines and books, and an artsy menu board. Canvas café has future goals of providing happy hour specials paired with poetry readings, open mic nights, and small concerts for the community to enjoy. The café is now open Tuesday through Saturday 9 am- 6 pm. The evening will include wine tasting by Republic National Distributing, samplings of menu items, tunes by local musicians the Charlie Milo Trio and Jeremy Facknitz, and clay demonstrations by BAC studio artists.
