Against a Trans Narrative:As people transition so does the world around them. Combining documentary technique, dramatic reenactment, spoken word performance and commentary, this film takes the conversation about transgendered people to a bold new level. The participants give voice to many hot-button issues now animating community dialogs. This film gives us an understanding of transgendered people and brings us up-to-date with all the controversial issues. (Directed by Jules Rosskam 2009, USA, 61 min.)

Diagnosing Difference: Confronting mental health categories and care standards for transexualism, this film features interviews with thirteen articulate and unique individuals, all of whom identify as a gender other than the one they were assigned at birth. They address their own personal experience of the diagnosis and its implications. This groundbreaking project seeks to humanize the debate by focusing on the voices of those it affects most directly and personally. (Directed by Annalise Opehelian, 2009, USA, 60 min.)

The Pikes Peak Lavender Film Festival is the only completely LGBT film festival in Colorado, and has been held in Colorado Springs since 1999. The festival programmers select from the best short films and features screened at the annual San Francisco International LGBT Film Festival. The Lavender Film Festival is held over a three-day period, opening on a Friday evening with a reception and continuing through Sunday.
