"Luncha:" Set in 1982 against the backdrop of the insurgency in El Salvador, Lucha traces the plight of two women in love whose only respite from the raging battles is in each other's arms. Diagnosing Difference: In the Taiwanese tradition, women have the unique power to return to the living as ghosts. Legendary filmmaker Monika Treut deftly crafts a mysterious love story. Sophie, a Hamburg-based visual artist, is haunted by the unexplained death of her beautiful Taiwanese girlfriend, Ai-ling. As Sophie attempts to come to terms with her grief, she encounters new intrigue when she meets Mei-Li, a relentless journalist who seems just as obsessed with uncovering the truth about Ai-ling as she is with seducing Sophie. As much a romance of cultures as an affair between women, this movie will make you feel the changing atmosphere of Taiwan and Germany while absorbingly entertaining you. (Directed by Monika Treut 2009, Germany/Taiwan, 89 min.)

The Pikes Peak Lavender Film Festival is the only completely LGBT film festival in Colorado, and has been held in Colorado Springs since 1999. The festival programmers select from the best short films and features screened at the annual San Francisco International LGBT Film Festival. The Lavender Film Festival is held over a three-day period, opening on a Friday evening with a reception and continuing through Sunday.
