Chamber Orchestra of the Springs: Virtuosity! (Friday)

Add Review/Comment
Paul Anthony Romero, who may fairly be said to be the best amateur classical pianist in the world, is coming to Colorado Springs to play Piano Concerto No. 2, Op. 21, composed by Frederick Chopin in 1830. Although too modest to make the “best amateur” claim for himself, the case is easy to make. Paul has won the grand prize at 4 international amateur piano competitions including the Paris International Competition for Outstanding Amateur Pianists, the Washington DC, the Van Cliburn, and the Rocky Mountain, right here in Colorado Springs.
Meanwhile, the best talents from the orchestra step up for Haydn’s masterful Sinfonia Concertante, and the concert is rounded out by rare performances of Symphony No. 10, by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Symphony No. 1 in C by Carl Maria von Weber.
W. A. Mozart: Symphony No. 10 in G Major, K74
Franz Joseph Haydn: Sinfonia Concertante in B-Flat Major, Hob.1:105
Frederick Chopin: Piano Concerto No. 2, Opus 21 with special guest Paul Anthony Romero, piano
Carl Maria von Weber: Symphony No. 1 in C, op. 19
