Join us First Friday for the opening reception of The Most Essential Is Invisible, featuring all new artwork by Bulgarian artist Encho Avramov. The exhibition continues through November 25.

Bulgarian-born artist Encho Avramov infuses his new body of paintings with dramatic character by contrasting contemporary Byzantine iconography with abstract expressionism and conceptualism. The result is a dialogue between paintings pondering visual existence versus visual absence. Mr. Avramov, studied in two of the most prestigious fine art schools in Europe: The National Fine Art Academy (NHA) in Sofia, Bulgaria and The Academy of Muses (AMU) in Prague, Czech Republic. As a visual artist he was trained in classic disciplines and techniques including egg tempera, oil, mixed media, and more. He also works within the fields of computer graphics, kinetic objects, installations, and art in public places. His paintings range in style from the expressive drips of abstract expressionism to the symbolic precision of Byzantine iconography. His contemporary artwork has appeared in exhibitions in private galleries and collections in Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Norway, England, France, Japan, Cuba and USA. As an award winning set /costume designer Mr Avramov has designed more than 75 productions for puppet, drama, opera and dance theatres in Europe and USA. His theatrical background informs his present work, making it fresh, unpredictable, humorous and poetic.
