The Modbo is excited to present works of Holly Conlon and Troy DeRose, with an opening reception on Friday, October 9th, 2009.

A Colorado native, Troy DeRose began painting at an early age, eventually earning his BA in Fine Arts with an emphasis in painting from Mesa State. DeRose's work is multimedia; he often paints on found objects such as cabinet doors, incorporating the wood grain into the finished piece. A graphic designer by trade, DeRose's art is influenced by mid-century design and illustration.

Artist Holly Conlon is also a published poet, having earned her degree in English from the University of North Texas. A multimedia artist, she began creating art in earnest in 2004, and considers the downtown art community her art school. Conlon says her recent body of work focuses on memorializing the past, "trying to preserve a moment that could be lost in the darkness."

The opening reception for Works of Holly Conlon and Troy DeRose will begin at 5:30 pm on Friday, October 9th. Food will be catered by McCabe's Tavern, and at 9 pm, there will be a live musical performances Briffaut and Velvet Radio.

The show runs through Friday, November 6th.
