Add Review/CommentThe Spanish Peaks stand apart from the mass of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, near Walsenburg, Colorado. Because these twin mountains are visible far out on the plains they have served for centuries as a beacon for American Indians, Spaniards, fur trappers, traders, soldiers, and travelers. In their new publication Spanish Peaks: Land and Legends, author Conger Beasley Jr. and photographer Barbara Sparks collaborate to tell the story of these remarkable peaks, the legends they have inspired, and the people who created them. On Saturday, July 21, at 2 p.m. Beasley and Sparks will read selections from their book in an illustrated free program at the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum. A book sale and signing follows the presentation.
